Both of these SOHC 212cc two-cylinder miracles weigh less than 90 pounds. They have carrying handles, resting mats, and on-side storage, so they can easily accompany you to the lodge or your hunting location. They’re easy to operate, with forward-mounted controls and optional power tilt—ideal for a full day of lake fishing or skimming the marsh with your decoys. They’re also great kickers on multi-species boats, with the 9.9 having a high-thrust model and an optional V MAX SHO®-style sport cowl for a uniform appearance. A CDI Microcomputer Ignition monitors throttle position, engine speed, and atmospheric conditions to accurately alter ignition timing for maximum ignition performance under all conditions, assuring smooth and reliable operation.
SMART EVOLUTION WITH CONVENIENCE AND CONTROL
For more comfortable usage, the F9.9 and F8 have a redesigned shorter handle. This also ensures that the handle tucks in tighter to the cowl when snapped back for more stable, flexible storage.
STORAGE AND PORTABILITY
These lightweights are easy to carry because to the built-in front and rear handles. On-side storage is made easy with resting pads and an uncomplicated oil retention system that prevents cowling scuffs and oil leaking.
PROTECTION OF THE PROPELLER
In shallow water, Yamaha’s Shallow Water Drive, which comes standard on all 9.9- and 8-hp tiller handle models, keeps the propeller and bottom unit out of harm’s way.

Our 9.9-hp 212-cc portable outboard features a redesigned, shorter tiller grip for enhanced comfort and the option of manual or electric start. We provide the F9.9 platform in a high-thrust T9.9 configuration because it is so popular. When used as a kicker on a multi-species boat, the high-thrust variant comes with a 25-inch shaft and a V MAX SHO® sport cowl.
Remote mechanical or tiller-handle control options are available.
